Kelly McGill, Dancer

Kelly McGill was born and raised in upstate New York where she began taking dance classes at the age of six.  For the next twelve years Kelly studied ballet, tap, and jazz at Danek School of Performing Arts in Johnson City, New York, and Southern Tier Academy of Dance, in Binghamton, New York.  Throughout junior and senior high,  Kelly traveled the east coast to New York, Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New Jersey competing and performing at dance competitions and conventions. Through this experience Kelly was able to take master classes with numerous professional artists, and learn and grow with dancers from all over the country. After high school Kelly attended SUNY Buffalo State College where she studied ballet, modern, partnering, and dance composition. Kelly was a member of the Buffalo State Dance Association and performed and choreographed for their annual dance concert in the spring of 2014.  As a college freshman, Kelly was the only student featured as a choreographer and performer in that performance. After one year at Buffalo State, Kelly decided to further pursue her passion for dance and transferred to Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia.  Kelly received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Dance from Shenandoah Conservatory in just three years, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in Spring 2017.  After graduation, Kelly traveled to France, Greece, and Spain on a five week, global extended learning trip, with Shenandoah Conservatory.  On this trip Kelly was able to study modern dance at the American College in Greece, the Isadora Duncan School, and many other local dance organizations throughout Paris, Athens, and Barcelona.  Currently, Kelly teaches ballet, jazz, and modern dance at Progressions Dance School in Warrenton, VA, as well as modern and contemporary dance at The Greater Washington Dance Center, in Reston, VA.  In addition to education, Kelly feeds her passion for dance through her work with Motion X Dance DC. This will be her second season with the company.
