Motion X seeks a guest choreographer for our 2025-26 season. Contemporary and modern dance choreographers of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply! One selected choreographer will be chosen to set a brand new work on the company to be performed in our upcoming spring performance, on May 15th and 16th, 2026. Requirements:
- Must be local the DMV or be willing to commute to Reston, VA
- Must have experience working with adult professional artists or advanced-level students (ex: college or pre-professional training programs)
- Choreographer should have work samples of at least 2 completed works for stage. Samples should be 5-10 minutes in length.
- Modern and contemporary style preferred, but we are open to works that fuse other styles (ex. hip hop, jazz, or any other cultural dance styles)
Selected Choreographer receives:
- Stipend of $500
- Residency-style rehearsal time with the dancers. We are flexible, but would prefer the work do be completed in one ore two weekends.
- Social media content to promote the artist and their work
- Professional video of their work
