Stephanie L. Dorrycott, Artistic Director
Stephanie L. Dorrycott, Artistic Director of Motion X Dance DC, was born outside of Washington, DC in Alexandria, VA and was integrated in dance from a young age. Her early training came from The Center for Ballet Arts in Fairfax, VA where she performed pre-professionally as a member of The Ballet Arts Ensemble of Fairfax. Stephanie went on to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Shenandoah University in 2009, earning the Excellence in Choreography Award upon graduation. Stephanie performed professionally as a freelance artist in DC in various festivals and showcases and also performed with Dancin Unlimited Jazz Company for four years. Her passion for performance evolved over the years and she eventually shifted her focus towards choreography and into the development of Motion X Dance DC. Her choreography has been seen on various dance groups, including Metropolitan Youth Ballet, Dancin Unlimited Jazz Company, The Ballet Arts Ensemble of Fairfax (BAE) and Inwood Dance Company. Stephanie has been commissioned for choreography by Shenandoah University and Joy of Motion Dance Center and has choreographed numerous pieces for dancers competing in the Youth American Grand Prix. Her work Holding On, Letting Go, performed by BAE, was chosen to be presented at the Southeastern Regional Ballet Association's Regional Festival '11 where it received the Monticello Award for best emerging choreography. Her choreographic work on Motion X has received accolades from reviewers in DC Metro Theater Arts, DC Theatre Scene, The Huffington Post, Washington City Paper, and DC Dance Journalism Project. Most recently, Turning Point, was selected for the 36th Annual Choreographer’s Showcase at the University of Maryland. Stephanie is currently on faculty at the Metropolitan School of the Arts and is the Associate Director for the Greater Washington Dance Center in Reston, VA.
Marina Eichorn, Assistant Director
Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Marina Eichorn received her early dance training from The American Academy of Ballet under the direction of Maris Battaglia. After her high school graduation, Marina decided to pursue her love for dance and health and moved to Philadelphia to study at Temple University, where she graduated with her BFA in Dance Performance & Choreography and Minor in Public Health in 2017. At Temple, Marina focused on her passion for performance, participated in numerous department and student productions, and worked behind the scenes as a stage manager at the Conwell Dance Theater. Marina has worked closely with noted dance artists such as Jon Lehrer, Sidra Bell, Aszure Barton, Donald Byrd, Kevin Wynn, and Mark Dendy. In 2015, Marina was thrilled to be among forty chosen students to train with Jennifer Archibald’s prestigious contemporary and hip-hop intensive, Archcore40. In 2016, she continued her training intensively with Urbanity Dance Company in Boston, MA. Since moving to the DC metro area, Marina is a certified Barre3 and Orange Theory instructor and will enter her third season with Motion X Dance DC.
Kelly McGill, Dancer
Kelly McGill was born and raised in upstate New York where she began taking dance classes at the age of six. For the next twelve years Kelly studied ballet, tap, and jazz at Danek School of Performing Arts in Johnson City, New York, and Southern Tier Academy of Dance, in Binghamton, New York. Throughout junior and senior high, Kelly traveled the east coast to New York, Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New Jersey competing and performing at dance competitions and conventions. Through this experience Kelly was able to take master classes with numerous professional artists, and learn and grow with dancers from all over the country. After high school Kelly attended SUNY Buffalo State College where she studied ballet, modern, partnering, and dance composition. Kelly was a member of the Buffalo State Dance Association and performed and choreographed for their annual dance concert in the spring of 2014. As a college freshman, Kelly was the only student featured as a choreographer and performer in that performance. After one year at Buffalo State, Kelly decided to further pursue her passion for dance and transferred to Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia. Kelly received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Dance from Shenandoah Conservatory in just three years, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in Spring 2017. After graduation, Kelly traveled to France, Greece, and Spain on a five week, global extended learning trip, with Shenandoah Conservatory. On this trip Kelly was able to study modern dance at the American College in Greece, the Isadora Duncan School, and many other local dance organizations throughout Paris, Athens, and Barcelona. Currently, Kelly teaches ballet, jazz, and modern dance at Progressions Dance School in Warrenton, VA, as well as modern and contemporary dance at The Greater Washington Dance Center, in Reston, VA. In addition to education, Kelly feeds her passion for dance through her work with Motion X Dance DC. This will be her third season with the company.
Kourtney Ginn, Dancer
Kourtney Ginn is a native of Winchester, VA, where she received her early training from Vostrikov’s Academy of Ballet. She attended summer programs at places such as Richmond Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Point Park University, and University of the Arts. Ginn graduated cum laude from Bucknell University with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Dance. Her career in the dance field has been multifaceted including teaching various styles throughout the mid-Atlantic region including American Dance Institute and Joy of Motion Dance Center. Ginn has performed with Beth Elliot Dance Group, DC Contemporary Dance Theater, Karen Reedy Dance, NetCo Dance Company, and Washington Reflections Dance Company. She occasionally joins Company E as a guest artist and her work with the company included traveling to Kazakhstan and Cuba in 2016. Ginn is also a dance administrator working for Dance/USA, a national dance service organization, for nearly six years first as Development Associate and later as Director of Programs. Ginn currently performs with DancEthos in addition to Motion X Dance DC. She also holds a 200-hour registered yoga certification and enjoys practicing and teaching yoga. This will be Kourtney's second season with Motion X.
Therese Gahl, Dancer
Therese Gahl received the crux of her dance training from the Washington School of Ballet under the tutelage of Mary Day. After graduating from high school she became a member of Ballet West II in Salt Lake City. She graduated with cum laude honors from George Mason University, where she received a Bachelor of the Arts in Psychology. Since then she has been a member of DC and VA based companies including Gin Dance Company and Teatro de Danza Contemporanea. She is also a dance instructor and choreographer for CityDance School and Conservatory and the Washington School of Ballet. She has presented her choreographic works in DC based festivals, including Intersections Dance Festival and VelocityDC Dance. She has also commissioned works for collegiate institutions including Georgetown University and Towson University. This will be Therese's second season as a company member of Motion X.
Ellie Hardwick, Dancer
Ellie Hardwick, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, received her training at the Thomas Studio of Performing Arts. She graduated in 2018 with a BFA in dance and a minor in business from George Mason University where she was awarded the 2014 Emerging Artist Scholarship. Ellie has performed works by Susan Shields, Christopher d’Amboise, Doug Varone, and Mark Morris. She has presented her choreography throughout the DMV area, the American College Dance Association (ACDA), and the Kennedy Center. She is very excited to start her next dance chapter with Motion X Dance this year.
