Master Classes & Dance Instruction
Styles of Expertise: Modern/contemporary, ballet, jazz, composition and improvisation techniques

Teaching Techniques & Principles:
  • Dynamic Release: A dancer's knowledge of overall movement; understanding how to release the spine using breath in contrast to activating the muscles when needed for control and support in phrasework.
  • Real Focus: The eyes and focus of the dancer creates an emotional connection with the audience. Focus is key to becoming a captivating dancer, using it as a way to lengthen the lines of the body and connect a concept to the movement.
  • Transitioning from "dancer" to "artist:" A dancer becomes an artist when they become comfortable with their true self, offering an additional layer of artistry to the movement and/or steps. This transition becomes possible when the dancer understands their body and can adapt successfully to many styles and genres.
  • S P A C E: This is a broad category including the dancer's ability take up space, spacial awareness , and understanding the space around them.
  • Every step matters: Every step in dance is important and requires thoughtful process, whether it's simple of more complex. Dancer's must attempt movements in a thoughtful way, using the feet articulately in and out of transitions.
